Great to rejuvenate an older deck

Here is a partial review of Deckorators brand decking: Sometimes budget constraints or the good condition of a deck frame make replacing just the decking a good choice. In these cases we recommend Deckorators brand decking. This deck product Is the stiffest and most dense synthetic deck product we are aware of. This quality helps to overcome some of the disadvantages of using an old frame. Over time the frame can sag  in some spots or boards can twist or warp. Most synthetic deck options are very flexible and compliant. When installed on a less than perfect frame the flaws will “telegraph” through to the deck surface compromising the overall appearance. This deck was a quite old and less than perfect base to work from but, the results are outstanding. There are no hints that it is anything but a new build. The cost was half what a new deck would have been.

Although we like PVC products very much they are not our first choice for this type of product as they are the most flexible choice there is. In 2016 Deckorators brings to market “Vault Decking” using their Eovations technology. Eovations is much like PVC except the main material is a mineral. No word yet on what the mineral is but, it is a very strong and stiff board with many of the properties that make PVC attractive. We will update as more information becomes available. We do know that Eovations will be available in “Dusk”, a dark grey, and “Mesquite” a medium brown.

We have used Deckorators on many of our deck projects this year. We adopted this product after it passed our testing for abrasion resistance and resistance to chipping and de-lamination. We found this stiffness of the board to be a great benefit to the overall presentation. I personally liked the crisp edges on the extrusion and feel that this adds a convincingly Ipe like character to the board. The eased edges on most boards look plastic like in some cases. Because of the ease of installation we offer Deckorators as our first recommendation for our DIY deck material packages we sell to homeowners. The hidden fastener system is simple, effective and errors are easily fixed. At first glance we wanted a little more “pop” in some of the colors but, once installed the look is really quite nice and authentic looking.
